BANKS, Ark. — The Banks Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a 2025 Wildland Fire Suppression Kit Grant, a boost that town officials say will significantly enhance the department’s ability to respond to wildland fires.
According to the announcement shared by the Town of Banks, the department received official notice that its grant application had been approved.
The kits—purchased and distributed by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture—are expected to be available for pickup in March or April of 2026. Each Wildland Fire Suppression Kit may include:
- Up to 10 sets of fire-resistant coveralls
- 10 wildland firefighting gloves
- Two backpack pumps
- Two backpack leaf blowers
- Four leaf rakes
- Two McLeod rakes
Final quantities may vary based on equipment cost and availability.
Town officials expressed appreciation for everyone involved in securing the grant and praised the dedication of volunteer firefighters who serve the Banks community.
