Derwood Hamilton Lyon, 1929-2025

Derwood Hamilton Lyon age 96, of Warren, AR died Wednesday, December 31st, 2025 in Warren, AR.  He was born Friday October 4th, 1929, a son of the late Carter Lyon and Geneva Neely Lyon.  Also preceding him in death was his sister Charline Lyon Daniel.

Derwood worked for Simmons and son Construction Company and Keith Neely Concrete Company for many years, He enjoyed raising cattle and riding horses, he was a fixture at the Saline and Ouachita Valley Sale barn for many years.  Derwood’s hobbies included Deer hunting which he loved, he looked forward to Deer season every year, and fox hunting with his friends.  Derwood enjoyed being a simple man that didn’t change much over his life, he stood for integrity and had a quick wit that isn’t found much by todays standard.  

Survivors include his two nieces, Lucretia Greenwood and spouse Richard, Warren, AR.  Charlotte Daniel, Little Rock, AR. A great nephew Scott Greenwood (Dana) Cabot, AR; and a great niece, Shelley Greenwood Hunt, (Doug) Dalton, GA.  6 great- great-nieces and nephews, William Greenwood, Warren, AR, Riley Greenwood and Amanda Greenwood, Cabot, AR, Emily Hunt, James Hunt and Andy Hunt all of Dalton, GA.

Graveside services were held 1:30PM Saturday, January 3rd at Ebenezer Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation was 1:00PM till service time at Ebenezer Cemetery.
