CALMER, Ark. – A man was arrested Wednesday morning following a shooting incident in Cleveland County, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after 6 a.m. to a residence near Calmer in response to a report of a shooting. An adult male was found with a gunshot wound and was later reported to have sustained minor injuries.
Authorities said the suspect was located in a camper situated behind the residence. After deputies attempted to make contact, the suspect exited the camper and was taken into custody without further incident.
Jason Barnett, 37, was arrested and charged with first-degree battery. No additional injuries were reported.
Officials said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.
