WARREN, Ark. — Warren Mayor Gregg Reep said Sunday afternoon that while streets across the city remain technically passable following this weekend’s winter storm, many roads are completely covered in ice and remain extremely dangerous.
City officials are urging residents to stay home if at all possible. Those who must travel are advised to take extreme precautions due to slick and icy conditions on numerous streets throughout Warren.
Warren City Street crews are actively out working on streets across the city, alongside state crews and private contractors who are assisting with the response to hazardous road conditions.
Despite the severity of the winter weather, there have been no reports of power outages or fallen tree limbs within the city. As a precaution, Entergy has staged response trucks at the Bradley County Fairgrounds to allow for a rapid response should utility issues arise.
City officials also noted that the Warren Municipal Building will remain open, with the Mayor’s Office available to provide services both in person and by phone. That phone number is 870-226-6743.
Officials said conditions will continue to be monitored closely, and additional updates will be provided as weather and street conditions change.
1:32 p.m. update: Due to hazardous road conditions, there will be no garbage pickup in Warren on Monday or Tuesday. City officials said regular garbage routes will resume on Thursday, January 29.
