Re-New-ing Edinburg discusses successful holiday events, plans upcoming activities

NEW EDINBURG, Ark. – Members of Re-New-ing Edinburg met Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the New Edinburg Community Center to discuss recent activities and plan upcoming events.

Trenna Kemp, president, welcomed those in attendance. With no meeting held in December, the November minutes had previously been emailed to members and were also distributed at the meeting. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Melody Spears and seconded by Don Triplett. The motion passed.

In the absence of the treasurer, Kemp provided a brief update on recent activities and the organization’s overall bank balance. She noted that the financial statement will be filed for audit.

Members discussed Santa’s visit to the New Edinburg Community Center on December 19 and December 20, which was again considered a great success. Approximately 140 youth and 312 adults attended. Nearly $2,000 in gifts and candy were distributed to children, while attendees enjoyed free hot chocolate and cookies. Each family also received a Christmas ornament.

Martha Tolano made a motion to host a game night at the community center on February 26, 2026, at 5 p.m. The motion was seconded by Melody Spears and passed.

The Great South Arkansas Junk Hunt was scheduled for March 26 through March 30, 2026. Members were reminded that items may be dropped off at Stewart Store, or individuals may contact Brenda Triplett or Roger McClellan if assistance is needed with unloading.

Plans were also discussed for the New Edinburg Community Center’s annual barbecue fundraiser, scheduled for March 14, 2026. Barbecue plates will be available for eat-in or take-out, and members were encouraged to attend and support the community center.

Plans were discussed and approved to hold the annual Easter egg hunt event on April 4, 2026.

Upcoming events include the Kingsland All School Reunion on February 28, 2026; the Primary Election on March 3, 2026; the New Edinburg Community Center BBQ on March 14, 2026; the Junk Hunt at Stewart’s Store from March 26–28, 2026; the Easter egg hunt event on April 5, 2026; and the New Edinburg All School Reunion on April 18, 2026.

The next Re-New-ing Edinburg meeting is scheduled for February 17, 2026.
