WARREN, Ark. – The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, Feb. 10 for its first meeting of February and first time in around a month due to the winter weather causing the cancellation of the previous meeting. Due to that the club had four Junior Rotarians from Warren High School.
They were Azul Garcia, Braxton Hembree, Kalees Lewis, and Colton Steen. Joel Tolefree was the program for the day and was in attendance to watch his granddaughter, Lewis, speak as a Junior Rotarian. Rotarians Andrew Tolbert and Carlton Davis both introduced Tolefree, even though he boldly proclaimed he needed no introduction. Tolefree, a member of the Warren School District Board and Warren City Council, spoke about his role on both entities and gave the group some updates on each. He then took some time to congratulate his granddaughter along with the other Junior Rotarians and commended the Warren School District for preparing these students. Tolefree took the opportunity to tell the club to talk about the positives of Warren, the school district, and Southeast Arkansas in general. He said he wouldn’t be where he is today without the education of the Warren School District. He concluded his speech with his thought that Southeast Arkansas will have to work together to thrive. He mentioned the Southeast Arkansas Intermodal Facility comprising Warren, Monticello, Bradley County, and Drew County as an example of this bringing in the new Weyerhaeuser facility. The Rotary Club of Warren meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at noon inside the Fellowship Hall at First Methodist Church. If you are interested in becoming a member, we’d love to have you attend a meeting.
