Warren showed attacking intent early in the first half. In the 6th minute, Allison Mondragon tested the LR Southwest goalkeeper with a low left-footed effort, but the shot was handled cleanly. Four minutes later, the Lady Gryphons sent a dangerous cross across the face of goal, though no attacker was there to finish.

The Lady Jacks continued to press forward. In the 14th minute, Azul Garcia unleashed a 30-yard strike that sailed just wide of the frame. Warren maintained pressure for much of the half, with Garcia and Mondragon controlling play in the midfield.

LR Southwest broke through in the 33rd minute after a mishap and scramble in the Warren back line allowed the Lady Gryphons to capitalize for the opening goal, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Warren nearly equalized before halftime. In the 38th minute, Mondragon rattled the post, and Sarai Gomez followed with a close-range attempt that was saved by the Southwest goalkeeper. Mondragon tested the keeper again with less than a minute remaining in the half, but the shot was stopped, sending the teams to the break with Warren trailing 1-0.

LR Southwest doubled its advantage less than a minute into the second half when a Gryphon attacker made a darting run through the middle and slotted a shot past the Warren goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

The Lady Jacks continued to push for a response. In the 45th minute, Warren nearly pulled one back on a headed attempt off a corner kick that went just wide. Later, in the 50th minute, Jessica Chavez blasted a shot into the side netting.

Shortly afterward, a thunderstorm moved into the area and halted play. Continued lightning throughout the evening prevented the match from resuming, and officials ultimately called the game.

With the result, the Lady Jacks move to 1-1 on the season.

A scheduled boys match between Warren and LR Southwest was set to follow the girls game but was unable to be played due to the lightning.
