MAGNOLIA, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello Blossoms softball team wrapped up its Great American Conference series against Southern Arkansas University on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms were unable to overcome an early surge by SAU, falling in five innings, 0-13.

Scoring Recap:
Southern Arkansas was on the board first, scoring six runs in the opening inning. The frame was highlighted by a three-run home run to left center, followed by a bases-loaded walk and a two-RBI single up the middle to extend the lead.
The Muleriders added to their advantage in the fourth inning, plating seven more runs. After the offensive showcase, the scoring would end with SAU leading 13-0.
UAM was held scoreless, as Southern Arkansas secured the run-rule victory.
Pitching Performances:
– Makenzie Martin started in the circle for the Blossoms, allowing six runs on four hits with two walks in the opening inning, taking the loss.
– Kayla Olthouse entered in relief and pitched 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits while issuing one walk.
– Ronnie Johnson faced four batters in the fourth, allowing four runs on four hits.
– Jadyn Barger closed out the game, tossing 1.0 inning and allowing one run on two hits.
Offensive Showcase:
– Kylie Bonicelli – 2-for-3 at the plate.
– Maddie Moore – 1-for-2 with a stolen base.
– Vyanna Quezada – 1-for-1 off the bench.

Arkansas-Monticello Softball will conclude the 2026 regular season this Thursday, April 30, and Friday, May 1, at home in Monticello, taking on the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene. First pitch of the doubleheader series opener is set for 3:30 p.m. on Friday. This weekend also marks Senior Weekend, where the Blossoms and UAM Athletics will honor our 4 seniors on the squad. Festivities will be held on Friday after the completion of game three.
