Lady Jacks Open Conference Play With 9-2 Road Win at Star City

STAR CITY, Ark. – The Warren Lady Jacks opened conference play on the road Tuesday in Star City. The Lady Jacks entered the game with a 5-5 record, while Star City stood at 7-3.

Wins at Star City have been few and far between for the Lady Jacks.

The game began as a defensive struggle, with both teams scoreless through the first inning.

Warren took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

The Lady Jacks broke things open in the top of the fourth inning, scoring six runs to take a 7-0 lead.

Star City answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, cutting the Warren lead to 7-2.

Warren added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning.

The Lady Jacks relied on airtight defense and the pitching of Brooklyn McVay to cruise to a 9-2 victory.

Raeleigh Milton led the Lady Jacks, going 3-for-4. Presley Reep went 2-for-4, while Haven Johnson finished 2-for-5. Ember Johnson, Charlee Wardlaw, Natalie Hargrave, and Breize Fellows each went 1-for-3.

Brooklyn McVay pitched a complete game, allowing just six hits and striking out three.

This marked the first conference win for the Warren seniors. Both Ember Johnson and Charlee Wardlaw said with smiles that the win felt really good. Coach Fielder Dufrene also said the win felt good but gave all the credit to the team.
