MONTICELLO – Anglers across southeast Arkansas will have the opportunity to compete and give back during the inaugural Lake Monticello Big Bass Tournament, set for Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The event, titled “Casting for a Call,” will take place at Lake Monticello with a safe light start and conclude at 2 p.m. Organizers say the tournament is open to both experienced fishermen and casual participants looking to enjoy a day on the water.

Entry for the tournament is $100 per person, with 80 percent of proceeds paid out to competitors. The remaining 20 percent will benefit The Call of Southeast Arkansas, a nonprofit organization that supports foster care and adoption efforts in the region.

Participants will compete for hourly payouts awarded to the largest bass caught each hour, along with prizes for the biggest bass and perch overall.

A youth division, labeled “Lil’ Casters,” is also being offered for children ages 12 and under. Entry for the youth category is $20, with prizes available in that division as well.

Organizers note that the number of entries will be limited and encourage early registration. Participants can register using a QR code provided on promotional materials or by following the event link shared by organizers.

The tournament is being held in cooperation with the City of Monticello, with additional support from local sponsors. Food trucks are also expected to be on site during the event.

Officials say the event aims to combine competitive fishing with community impact, giving participants a chance to support a local cause while enjoying one of the area’s most popular outdoor activities.
