Monticello rallies late to edge Lady Jacks 12-11 in key 8-4A showdown

WARREN, Ark. — The Lady Jacks played host to the Lady Billies in a very important 8-4A matchup, with a win meaning a share of the conference title.

Warren jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, then added a run in the second and another in the third to take a 4-0 advantage.

Monticello answered with two runs in the top of the fourth, but Warren responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to extend its lead to 5-2.

Monticello added another run in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-3.

The game turned in the top of the sixth inning, as Monticello scored six runs to take a 9-5 lead.

Warren answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 9-7, and Monticello added three more in the top of the seventh to extend its lead to 12-7.

The Lady Jacks refused to go away, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull within one run, but Monticello held on for the 12-11 win.

Raeleigh Milton went 3-for-5 at the plate. Haven Johnson, Bayleigh Miller, Ember Johnson, Presley Reep, and Natalie Hargrave each went 2-for-4. Brooklyne McVay finished 1-for-3 with her third home run of the season, while Breize Fellows went 1-for-4 with her second home run of the year.

Warren will host Hamburg on Tuesday.
