Rotary Club Learns About Mainline’s Warren School-Based Clinic

(L to R): Mainline's Brady McDuffie, Mainline's Jessie Owen, and Rotarian and Warren School District Superintendent Bryan Cornish

The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, April 28 in its second meeting of the month at First Methodist Church. The club heard from Warren High School Junior Rotarians Kylexy Hampton, Jaretsy Torres, and Memphis Pacheco to kick things off. Rotarian and Warren School District Superintendent Bryan Cornish followed by presenting his program about Mainline Health’s Warren School-Based Clinic. He touched on a few items about how the clinic has affected the district and emphasized it isn’t just primary care as they have dental and mental health services as well. It isn’t just for the kids as employees and parents can utilize the services, and he also wanted it to be known that they do not refer patients back to Mainline only. They will refer them back to their primary care provider.

It’s been a big help with keeping absenteeism down for students and has also helped teachers not miss as much class time. He introduced Jessie Owen and Brady McDuffie. Owen presented some statistics and said that just for the first quarter of this year the elementary clinic had over 1,000 visits, while the clinic at SEACBEC had close to 500. This was all services and included children and adults. She said Mainline loves being an asset to the school district and said they feel like they are having a positive impact. Owen continued by saying that since this started a few years ago that this is the first visit to a dentist a lot of children have. The mental health portion of this is valuable as well with the recent emphasis on it across the nation. Cornish emphasized these points as well and how thankful he is for Mainline to provide this to the Warren School District. The group answered a few questions to conclude the meeting.
