The Lumberjacks are now 5-5 overall and 2-1 in conference action while Crossett improved to 7-7 and is also 2-1 in league play.

The Eagles began the contest with a run in each of the first two frames before Warren exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the second. The home team loaded the bases with no outs on a single, hit-by-pitch, and walk before a bases loaded walk to Aceen Jurado plated the first run. Ren Reep singled home a run with one out and Jackson Denton followed with a two-run double to center field. Jude Cathey plated two more with a double of his own before Ryan Spears hit into a fielder’s choice for an RBI to cap the scoring.

Crossett got one run back in the third, but the Jacks scored another in the bottom half on an RBI double by Tucker McDiarmid to make the score 8-3. Starting pitcher Parker O’Neal avoided the big inning by allowing just one run in each of the first three frames, but Crossett got to him for three runs in the fourth to trim the edge to 8-6 with one out. However, Reep kept the score there after getting the final two outs on three pitches in relief.

Warren put runners on the corners with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, but couldn’t score to extend the lead. The visitors took advantage in the next inning with four runs scored to take a 10-8 edge. The Jacks committed two errors, hit two batters, and walked two. The Eagles added two more in the sixth on one hit, but were aided by three Warren errors and two free passes.

The Orange and Black did not go quietly as they loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the sixth on a hit, hit batter, and walk. The next two hitters struck out, but back-to-back RBIs on a hit-by-pitch and walk trimmed the deficit to 12-10. The Eagles made a pitching change and a fly out to center field ended the threat.

Crossett would go on to add four more in the top of the seventh and kept Warren off the scoreboard in the bottom half to clinch a 16-10 win. Crossett out hit the Jacks 12-10 on the evening, but seven Warren errors to one for the Eagles proved to be costly. Warren also left 10 runners on base in the contest.

Reep led the offensive effort for Warren with three hits, two runs, and an RBI. Denton and Cathey drove home two runs apiece, while Denton scored twice. O’Neal had the only other multi-hit effort and Warren saw eight of its nine hitters drive in at least one run.

O’Neal threw the first 3 1/3 innings before Reep tossed the next 1 2/3. Spears came on for an inning plus of work while Huck Williams and Madden Bryant saw their first varsity action on the bump with Bryant recording his first strikeout.

The Lumberjacks are scheduled to return to action in another key conference matchup at Monticello on Tuesday, April 7. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
