Glenn Lansdale’s Final Children’s Book Set for Release

WARREN, Ark. — The final children’s book written by Warren native Glenn Lansdale is set to be released this week.

The book, titled “Let’s Go Campin’!: Charlie Invites His Friends,” is scheduled for release on Amazon on Thursday, May 14.

Robin Hollis, Lansdale’s mother, said Lansdale had finished writing the book just a few weeks before he passed away in January of 2023. Since then, family and friends have spent three years editing the book and completing the illustrations.

The book was written by Lansdale and illustrated by Andrea Shorey. Chad Grashel, a friend of Lansdale’s, helped Hollis complete the project.

According to Hollis, all of the boys featured in the book are based on actual friends of Lansdale. The main character, Charlie, is named as a tribute to Lansdale’s Pap-paw, just as he was in Lansdale’s first book.

A summary included in the publication describes the story as focusing on Charlie and his friends spending time outdoors after deciding to step away from video games and enjoy a camping trip together with their fathers.

In a message shared Tuesday, Hollis said she believes Lansdale would be proud of the finished book. Proceeds from Lansdale’s books help fund the annual Glenn Lansdale Scholarship.

Lansdale was a 2001 graduate of Warren High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Henderson State University in 2005. He was a children’s book author.

Previous publications by Lansdale, including “Let’s Go Fishin’!: Charlie’s Big Catch” and “Ronnie Ain’t No Chicken,” are also available on Amazon.
