NASHVILLE, Ark. — The Warren Lady Jacks are headed to the semifinal round of the 4A State Softball Tournament after defeating Gentry 3-1 Friday afternoon in Nashville.

With the win, Warren advances to face Brookland High School on Saturday at noon with a spot in the state championship game on the line.
The Lady Jacks found themselves in a tight pitchers’ duel early as both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings. Gentry broke through first with a run in the bottom of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Warren responded in the top of the fifth inning. Raeleigh Milton delivered a key RBI single that gave the Lady Jacks a 2-1 advantage. Warren later added an insurance run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 3-1.
Brooklyne McVay turned in a strong performance in the circle for Warren, pitching all seven innings. McVay allowed just five hits and one unearned run while striking out three and walking one.
The Lady Jacks finished with eight hits offensively. Milton led Warren with two hits and one RBI, while Haven Johnson and Natalie Hargrave also collected two hits each. Caroline Wardlaw and Bella Fellows each scored a run, and Warren also turned a double play defensively.
Gentry managed five hits in the contest but was unable to capitalize against Warren’s defense and pitching down the stretch.
The Lady Jacks improved their postseason run with the victory and now move within one win of a trip to the 4A State Championship game.
