MORO BAY, Ark. 5-6-26 — Moro Bay State Park has announced several upcoming Memorial Day weekend programs and activities while also sharing an update on river conditions and a seasonal employment opportunity at the park.

According to a post shared by the park on Monday, river levels at Moro Bay have remained low through the winter and spring months, though recent rainfall has helped remove the burn ban from the area. Park officials reported the river level at 66.30 feet on Monday and said the water was continuing to fall.

The park will host a variety of Memorial Day weekend programs from May 22-25, including guided hikes, boat tours, a kayak test drive event, and a reptiles program at the visitor center.

Programs scheduled for Friday, May 22 include a guided hike from 9 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. at the Low Water Trail Head and a boat tour from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. departing from the visitor center.

Saturday, May 23 activities include a kayak test drive from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the marina and a “Reptiles of Moro Bay” program from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. inside the visitor center nature room.

Additional events on Sunday, May 24 include another guided hike at 8 a.m. and a boat tour from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The weekend concludes Monday, May 25 with a guided hike beginning at 9 a.m. at the Deer Run Trail Head near the playground.

Park officials noted that seating for boat tours is limited and encouraged visitors to sign up in advance by calling 870-463-8555 or stopping by the visitor information center. Outdoor programs are also subject to cancellation due to weather conditions.

Moro Bay State Park also announced that a summer maintenance position is currently open at the park. Duties include trash pickup, weed eating, and other maintenance tasks. The position works Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and pays $12.50 per hour.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check and driver’s license check. Park officials said they are seeking someone who can begin work this month and continue through mid-July.

Those interested in applying can contact the park at morobay@arkansas.gov or call 870-463-8555.
