KINGSLAND, Ark. – A concept for a potential outdoor amphitheater in downtown Kingsland is generating discussion among local residents after renderings of a proposed venue were shared on social media this week.
The concept, shared by Kingsland resident Paul Abeyta, envisions a timber-framed outdoor performance pavilion located near First Street, with the town’s iconic Johnny Cash water tower visible nearby. The design features an open-air stage with lawn seating for concerts, festivals, community gatherings and other public events.
According to information included with the renderings, the proposed structure would feature an approximately 32-foot by 24-foot stage, exposed timber beams, stone column footings and mounted stage lighting. The concept describes the venue as a place for “music, community and memories.”
Abeyta said the idea has been on his mind for a long time.
“An idea has been running through my head about Kingsland for a long time,” Abeyta wrote in a Facebook post. “That place means a lot to me as far as shaping and heritage and music and experiences.”
Abeyta also noted that bringing the project to life would require community support, writing, “However, it takes a village. Recruiting for anyone that wants to bring this to fruition.”
The concept gained additional attention after Kingsland Mayor-Elect Samantha Johnson shared the renderings on her Facebook page and voiced support for the vision.
“We are praying hard that a music stage/pavilion becomes a reality here in Kingsland!” Johnson wrote.
Johnson said the venue could be used for a variety of community activities, including live music, birthday parties, family reunions, community gatherings, school events, church activities and special celebrations.
Community members commenting on the posts discussed possible fundraising efforts, grants and sponsorship opportunities as potential ways to support a project of that scale.
At this time, no official construction plans, funding announcements or project approvals have been publicly announced. The renderings appear to represent a conceptual vision and have sparked discussion about possible future community development in Kingsland.
