The Southeast Arkansas Community Action Corporation will begin accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program on July 6, providing qualifying households with help paying electric utility bills.
The program, commonly known as LIHEAP, will be available to income-eligible residents in Bradley, Drew, Ashley, Chicot and Desha counties. SEACAC officials encourage residents who may need help with their electric bills to visit one of the agency’s scheduled service locations during operating hours.
Early enrollment for elderly residents, disabled individuals and households with children under age 6 was held June 23-24 at the Warren Housing Authority.
Beginning July 6, the general public may apply at the following locations:
Monday — Ashley County
- 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: SEACAC Office, 109 Lincoln St., Hamburg
- 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Crossett Library, 1700 Main St., Crossett
Tuesday — Chicot County
- 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Armory, 1411 Park St., Lake Village
- Noon to 2 p.m.: City Hall, 211 W. Iowa St., Dermott
Wednesday — Desha County
- 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Community Center, 18 Belmont St., Dumas
- 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: SEACAC Office, 200 North 1st St., McGehee
Thursday — Drew and Bradley counties
- 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Morning Star MBC, 312 E. Oakland Ave., Monticello
- 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Old Armory, 101 S. Martin St., Warren
Applicants should be aware that staff will stop accepting applications 30 minutes before each location closes in order to allow time for equipment breakdown and closing procedures.
Residents applying for assistance should bring Social Security cards for everyone in the household, a photo identification card or state-issued ID, proof of income and copies of their most recent electric and gas utility bills.
Those receiving benefits, including Social Security Disability, SSI, retirement or VA benefits, should bring their 2026 benefit award letter as proof of income. Employed applicants should bring pay stubs from the previous month based on their pay schedule or an employer earnings statement. Unemployed applicants should bring documentation from the unemployment office. Self-employed applicants should bring a 1099-C form or recently filed tax documentation.
SEACAC noted that applications may be delayed when required paperwork is not provided. Applicants are encouraged to bring copies of all applicable documents.
