DAR Perpetual Flag Program Concludes at Bradley County Courthouse

WARREN, Ark. — The Chicot Trace-Captain Robert Abernethy Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has concluded its Perpetual Flag Program with the presentation of a commemorative plaque at the Bradley County Courthouse.

The program, originally sponsored several years ago by the local chapter when it was known as the Captain Robert Abernethy Chapter, allowed individuals to purchase flags in honor of veterans of their choice.

A total of 48 flags are now displayed at the Bradley County Courthouse before patriotic holidays. The newly installed plaque, which hangs inside the courthouse, lists the veterans honored through the program as well as the individuals who purchased the flags in their honor. Names appear in the order the flags were purchased.

DAR members presented the plaque last week to Bradley County Judge Klay McKinney, marking the completion of the program.

Since the conclusion of the Perpetual Flag Program, the local chapter has merged and is now known as the Chicot Trace-Captain Robert Abernethy Chapter NSDAR.

Those interested in learning more about joining the chapter may call 501-231-6214 or 870-820-3332.
