The Rotary Club of Warren met at its new meeting location of the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County on Tuesday, July 14 at noon.

The first meeting of July signifies the new Rotary Year, and previous president Andrew Tolbert has accepted the role of club president for the 2026-27 year. Rotarian Dr. Bob Smalling introduced his program Dr. John Kyle Day, UAM History Professor. Dr. Day made a brief presentation on Arkansas’s path to statehood as this year marks the 190th anniversary of Arkansas becoming a state. He went into detail about the Arkansas Territory and some of its governmental functions leading up to statehood in 1836. He then explained the first years of Arkansas as a state and talked about key historical figures in what was a rough-and-tumble environment in those days. Dr. Day also touched on the 250th anniversary of the United States and said Arkansas is 10 years away from its 200th anniversary so he is looking forward to how the state will celebrate it. He answered a few questions to conclude his program. The Rotary Club of Warren still meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month (aside from holiday conflicts), but meetings will be held at the YMCA. The Rotary Club of Warren would like to invite you or a representative from your business to a meeting to see if you’d be interested in joining the club.
