Editor’s note: The results below are for Bradley County only. They are not the complete results for Arkansas State Senate District 1 and do not include votes cast in other counties within the district. These vote total from Bradley County are unofficial.
Missy Wardlaw narrowly carried Bradley County over Harrel Wilson in Tuesday’s Republican special primary election for Arkansas State Senate District 1, according to unofficial local results from August 18.
In Bradley County alone, Wardlaw received 381 votes, while Wilson received 368, giving Wardlaw a 13-vote advantage locally.
These numbers do not represent the final districtwide results. State Senate District 1 includes voters outside Bradley County, and the winner of the special primary will be determined by the combined results from the entire district.
Wardlaw carried all three Warren wards. In Ward 1, she defeated Wilson 29-25; in Ward 2, Wardlaw received 57 votes to Wilson’s 41; and in Ward 3, Wardlaw received 38 to Wilson’s 33. Combined, Wardlaw received 124 votes within Warren’s three wards compared with 99 for Wilson.
Wilson performed strongly in several Bradley County precincts. He carried North 111-93 and South 51-46. Wilson also won Banks City 5-2, Banks Rural 13-9, Jersey 5-2 and Marion 14-6.
Wardlaw carried Hermitage Rural 45-39, Eagle Lake 9-7 and Johnsville by a 28-6 margin.
The candidates tied in two precincts, receiving 13 votes each at Springhill and 10 votes each in Hermitage City.
