MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team returned to the court Friday morning for its second match of the Mulerider Invitational. The Blossoms fell in three sets to UT-Tyler.

FIRST SET (25-8 UTT, UTT leads 1-0)

The opening set remained even through the first six points, with kills from Sophia Grubbs and Summer Stephens. UT-Tyler began to pull away, using a 10-1 stretch to build a 13-4 advantage. The Patriots continued to control the set, eventually stretching the lead to 21-5. UAM collected three late kills, including two from Grubbs and one from Stephens, before eventually dropping the opening set, 25-8.

SECOND SET (25-20 UTT, UTT leads 2-0)

The Blossoms showed resilience in the second set after falling behind 11-2, answering with five consecutive points, highlighted by kills from Summer Stephens and Sophia Grubbs and a service ace from Hannah Hubbard, to cut the deficit to 11-7. EllaCline recorded four consecutive service aces to erase a 15-11 deficit and tie the set at 15-15. The teams remained close through an 18-17 UT-Tyler advantage, but the Patriots scored five of the next six points to take a 23-19 lead. Stephens added one final kill before UT-Tyler claimed the set, 25-20.

THIRD SET (25-17 UTT, UTT wins 3-0)

Arkansas-Monticello battled point-for-point with the Patriots early in the third set, with kills from Kylie Miller, Sophia Grubbs, Jalen Scroggins, Isabella Garcia, and Ella Cline helping UAM remain within one at 12-11. UT-Tyler responded with six unanswered points to take control at 18-11. The Blossoms answered with back-to-back kills from Scroggins and Stephens before making another push later in the set. Trailing 20-13, UAM scored four consecutive points, highlighted by a kill from Garcia, to cut the deficit to 20-17. UT-Tyler responded by scoring the final five points to close the set, 25-17, and the match, 3-0.
