Three Warren golfers captured the Championship Flight title at the Dr. Hugh Albert Nutt 3-Person Scramble, held over the weekend at Fordyce Country Club.
Hayden Lassiter, Wesley Richard and Rhett Clanton finished with a two-day total of 107 to claim first place in the tournament’s top flight.
The Warren trio opened play with a 57 on Saturday before putting together an outstanding final round on Sunday, firing a 50 to surge to the top of the leaderboard.
Their 107 total gave them a two-stroke victory over two teams that finished tied for second at 109. Williams, Williams and Williams posted rounds of 56 and 53, while Hulse, Hulse and Bell also recorded rounds of 56 and 53.
Lassiter, Richard and Clanton entered Sunday three strokes behind the opening-round leaders before their strong final round propelled them to the championship.
The Dr. Hugh Albert Nutt 3-Person Scramble featured several flights of competition over two days, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16, at Fordyce Country Club.
The victory gave the Warren trio the Championship Flight title in one of the area’s summer golf tournaments.
