The local livestock sale barn formerly known as Bradley County Livestock Barn is moving forward under a new name and new management.
The Facebook page previously used by Bradley County Livestock Barn now carries the name Mid South Livestock-Warren, AR, and the business has announced that Josh and Abby Branscome will serve as the new managers of the sale barn.
The development comes after Bradley County Livestock Barn announced earlier this month that it was closing, citing changing economic conditions and personal circumstances. In that announcement, the business said there was no next sale date but that its board of directors was working to ensure the community would have a local sale barn again.
The newly renamed Mid South Livestock page is now providing details about that next chapter.
The announcement began by recognizing Mrs. Kay Casey for her work with the livestock sale over the past several years.
The post stated: “We want to take a moment to say a special thank you to Mrs. Kay Casey for all of her hard work and dedication over the past several years in running a great sale for our community. She has poured countless hours, hard work, and so much love into this community, and we will always be grateful for everything she has done. ❤️”
Mid South Livestock then introduced Josh and Abby Branscome as the new managers of the sale barn.
“We are excited to introduce the new managers of the sale barn, Josh and Abby Branscome!” the announcement stated.
According to the post, Josh Branscome is a native of Grenada, Mississippi, where his family currently operates a large cow-calf operation as well as stocker cattle. His wife, Abby, has close ties to South Arkansas and is the daughter of Charlie and Leslie Searcy of Monticello.
The post stated: “The Branscome family is excited to begin this new adventure here in Bradley County, and they are looking forward to great things ahead for this community. We are excited to have them and look forward to seeing what the future holds!”
A date for the next cattle sale has not yet been finalized.
“Our next sale date is still pending and will be finalized as soon as all licensing paperwork is completed.” the announcement stated.
In the meantime, Mid South Livestock said Josh will be coming to the area each week and would be available to visit producers and look at cattle. His contact number was listed as 662-417-5229.
The Facebook announcement does not provide details about the ownership or legal structure of the new operation.
