Warren Branch Library celebrates Library Card Sign-Up Month in September

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Warren Branch Library is joining libraries across the country in reminding residents that one small card can open the door to a wide range of opportunities.

This year’s campaign carries the musical theme, “A library card hits all the right notes!” The Warren Branch Library, part of the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library system, is encouraging area residents who do not already have a library card to consider signing up during the month.

Library cards remain one of the simplest ways for families to connect with books, information and educational resources. For children, a trip to the library can help build reading skills and curiosity at an early age. Students can use library resources to supplement what they are learning in the classroom, while adults can turn to the library for everything from recreational reading to research and lifelong learning.

The observance also serves as a reminder that libraries have continued to evolve with the communities they serve. While checking out a good book remains at the heart of the library experience, today’s libraries are also community spaces where people can discover new interests, explore information and connect with resources.

Library Card Sign-Up Month is observed nationally each September and is supported by the American Library Association and libraries across the United States.

The Southeast Arkansas Regional Library serves Bradley, Chicot, Desha, Drew and Lincoln counties.

Area residents interested in obtaining a library card or learning more about available library services can visit the Warren Branch Library or the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library website at searlibrary.org.

For longtime library users, September may simply be a reason to pull that card back out of the wallet. For those who have never had one, the Warren Branch Library’s message is simple: there may be more waiting behind that library card than you realize.
