The City of Hermitage and the Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department have been awarded a $160,600 grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
City officials announced the award Monday, saying the funding will provide new equipment and additional resources for the department’s volunteer firefighters.
The grant is expected to strengthen the department’s ability to respond to emergencies and serve residents throughout the Hermitage community.
“We are thankful for this opportunity and for the continued support of our firefighters, community, and everyone who helps make Hermitage a safer place,” the city said in announcing the award.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program provides federal funding to fire departments and other eligible emergency response organizations for equipment, training and other needs aimed at improving firefighter and public safety.
