Is God trying to speak to you?

I woke recently during the night to the sound of rain. After all the very hot and dry weather we have been experience, it sounded wonderful. I was reminded of a time of a great drought during the days of Elijah and Ahab. Elijah said something very interesting about the sound of rain. It’s recorded in I Kings 18:41. “And Elijah said to Ahab, get thee up, eat and rink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”

Now the rain had not started yet…in fact there was not even a cloud in sight. But Elijah is listening to God rather than all the people who are complaining about the drought. Ahab believed and acted on the report of Elijah.

Sometimes all the voices around us are speaking gloom and doom and it is easy to get so caught up in the sound of their words that we can’t hear what God is saying.

My advice…turn off the complainers and naysayers and listen to God. in the middle of all the other voices around us, God is trying to speak comfort and assurance. Be an Elijah..be an Ahab…turn off the voices of gloom and doom and hear what God has to say.
