Southeast Arkansas Community Action, Corporation (SEACAC) seeks to help disadvantaged individuals in Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha, and Drew Counties of Arkansas to move towards self-sustainment. The agency supports education, access, and exposure as vital keys to accomplishing the purpose.
In June 2022, SEACAC introduced the Eddie Colen Scholarship in honor of Mr. Eddie Colen, founder of the organization in 1968, as a strategy to accomplish this goal. The scholarship was made available to individuals in the 5-county region seeking certification for professional careers. SEACAC awarded $67,210 in scholarships to students attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello Technical College – McGehee/Crossett and Southwest Medical Academy.
SEACAC hosted its inaugural conference on October 21, 2002, at the John F. Gibson Center, UAM, which concluded with a celebration banquet. The banquet highlighted board and staff accomplishments and honored Mrs. Vivian Colen, Eddie Colen’s spouse.
