MORO BAY, Ark. – Multiple fire crews from Bradley County and Union County were called Sunday, March 5 to a fire at Moro Bay on Mitchum Landing Road due to an oil storage tank explosion, the second such event of the weekend.
Crews with the Bradley County Rural Fire Department, the Banks Volunteer Fire Department, Jersey Rural, Warren Fire Department, as well as fire crews from Union County were dispatched around 8:28 a.m. Sunday morning to the scene at Mitchum Landing Road in Moro Bay.
BCRFD along with other fire departments from Bradley Co. and Union Co. responded to an oil storage tank explosion, this morning, in Moro Bay on Mitchum Landing Road south of Moro Bay State Park on the north side of the Ouachita River.
This was the second fire in the south end of Bradley County this weekend. Saturday morning around 7:10 a.m. crews were called to a fire at a separate oil storage unit. Both fires are under control from the information Saline River Chronicle has gathered.
Banks’s Rural Fire Department put out a statement Sunday noting the some of the fire departments which were involved in both Saturday’s and Sunday’s firefighting efforts. Those included Banks Volunteer., Old Union, Bradley Rural, Lawson/Urbana, Hermitage Rural, Hermitage City, City of Warren, Bradley Co. OEM, and perhaps another or two. Over 35 firefighters and over a dozen units came out.
