Tomato Festival shirts go on sale Monday

T-shirts for the 67th annual Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival are expected to go on sale Monday.

They will be available at Bradley County Chamber of Commerce, First State Bank, Warren Bank and Trust, and Union Bank.

Festival events will begin with the Tour de Tomato bike ride on May 20, with routes to Hermitage and Johnsville.

On June 3, pageants will be held at Hermitage Community Center at 6 p.m. They include Miss Petite, Miss Pre-Teen, Miss Teen and Miss Pink Tomato. Selena Jacks is pageant chairwoman and entry forms are available at PinkTomatoFestival.com. Contestants are urgently needed for all categories.

Ryburn Automotive is the main stage sponsor and AHF is the small stage sponsor. Events are scheduled on June 8-10. Johnson’s Carnivals will be open all three days, with armband nights on Thursday and Saturday.

Warren Lions Club will sponsor the Gospel Jamboree at 6 p.m. June 8 at the Immanuel Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Junior Auxiliary will sponsor a Kids Zone at the courthouse square.

Several new vendors and food booths are expected to come to this year’s festival.

The Quilt Show has been moved to the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 9-10.

The Tomato Packing Contest will be from 4:45-5:30 p.m. June 9 on the small stage.

The Cutest Baby Contest will be at Grace Cowboy Church at 5 p.m. June 9. The Great Balls of Fire Salsa Contest will be from 6-6:30 p.m. June 9.

DJ Jam-A-Lot will be on West Cypress Street from 8-10 p.m. June 9. Josie Hargis will perform on the main stage from 6-10 p.m. that night.

On June 10, the day will begin with the 5K run/walk at 7:30 a.m. A car show will be held on Main Street and the festival parade will be at 10 a.m. The Tomato Eating Contest will follow on the small stage at 10:45 a.m. The All-Tomato Luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Activities Center.

The Little Miss Pink Tomato Pageant will be held at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Hispanic activities will be held from 6-10 p.m. on West Cypress Street. Trea Landon will hit the main stage from 6:30-8 p.m. and David Nail will perform from 8:30-10 p.m. The festival will conclude with a fireworks show sponsored by First State Bank.

Times are subject to change and many more events will be added. A full schedule will appear in Saline River Chronicle when available.

A general committee meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 25. All volunteers and committee chairs are asked to attend.
