WARREN, Ark. – According to the City of Warren, demolition of the old Bryant’s Furniture building on Main Street is set to start Tuesday morning, May 23, 2023.
As Saline River Chronicle reported last week, plans are underway to start the demolition of the dilapidated building early this week. Now we have learned that the contract crew hired by the City to tear the building down plans to begin the work Tuesday morning. Plans are to start on the western side of the structure. Some preparation work was already being conducted Monday morning. A portion of Main Street may be closed to traffic for a time, but it is hoped that the closing will be short-term since demolition will start on the backside of the building.
This is the second major downtown Warren demolition project to take place in the last few weeks. As Saline River Chronicle reported throughout, the block to the south of the Bradley County Courthouse was recently taken down after being condemned by the City due to warnings from numerous structural experts.
Saline River Chronicle will provide updates to the public throughout the dismantling of the old Bryant’s Building.
