WARREN, Ark. – The old Bryant’s Furniture building on Main Street in Warren was demolished Tuesday, May 23, 2023 by a contracting crew hired by the City of Warren.
Work crews began early Tuesday morning moving equipment into the area along Church Street and Main. Warren officials, including from the Warren Street and Warren Fire Departments were on hand monitoring the demolition and providing the necessary assistance.
Around noon Tuesday the majority of the building was torn down, including the eastern front of the structure.
By early afternoon crew moved to working by hand to dismantle the brick wall that made up the northern portion of the building. That’s a bit more of a delicate task, as the bricks are situated and in contact with Iglesia Cristiana, a church to the north of the building on Main.
Main Street was only close for a short period of time to traffic as the crew worked to get the eastern entrance to the building down.
At this point the cleanup effort will begin, as the remains of the building are set to be hauled to the Bradley County landfill.
