Doyle Gill, 1943-2023

Doyle Edward Gill age 80 of Warren, AR died Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at his home.  He was born Monday, January 18, 1943 in Pine Bluff, AR a son of the late Odis Gill, Sr. and Edith Hunter Gill. He was a retired forester for Potlatch Timber Company; Doyle was instrumental in developing a habitat conservation plan under the deferral endangered species act for the Red Cockhaded Woodpecker in South Arkansas. He served his country as a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, he was a 50-year member of the Gideons and a 51-year member of First Assembly of God Church serving on the Deacon Board.

 Also preceding him in death was his wife, Carla Ozment Gill whom he married December 19, 1964 and she died August 1, 2023. His step-father, Virgil Hunter and step-mother, Katherine Gill.

Surviving is a son, Jason Gill, Warren, AR as well as grandchildren, Lucila Gill, Elizabeth Gill and Tony Gill all of Woodlawn, AR. A brother, Odis Gill Jr, Warren, AR and a sister, Shirley Hearnsberger, Banks, AR along with a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his caregivers, Brenda Allen and Bayleigh Gibson, along with the staff of Gentiva Hospice, for the wonderful care they have given Doyle.

Funeral service was at 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 16, 2023 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jim Bales officiating. Burial was in Outlaw Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
