Noma Gates Kitchens, 1927-2023

Noma Gates Kitchens, age 96, of Banks, Arkansas went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Noma was born in Gravel Ridge, Arkansas, Bradley County, on August 8, 1927, to Willie Ted Gates and Mable Dona Dailey Gates.

She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years, Charles Lamar Kitchens, Sr; her son, Charles (Butch) Lamar Kitchens, Jr; her great, great grandson, Oliver Graham Yates; her parents; and eight brothers and sisters: Willie Gates, Marie Gates Osborne, Jimmy Gates, Alva Gates, Bernice Gates Adams, Ethel Gates Johnson, and Evelyn Gates McMurry. S

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Dunn and her husband, Jack Dunn. Her surviving grandchildren and their spouses are: Jim Kitchens (Angela), Chad Kitchens (Heather), Jaclyn Fagg (Keith), and Jocelyn Dunn. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.

Noma and her husband, Lamar Kitchens, moved to Houston, Texas soon after they married. She retired from Motion Industries where she held the position of Buyer and Inventory Control. After retiring, she and her husband returned to Banks, Arkansas to enjoy the life of ranching. Following her husband’s death, Noma continued growing her herd of cattle and taking care of the farm for twelve years before retiring once again. She was a strong, independent woman who said there was never anything she didn’t think she could do. Noma was loved and adored by her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 22023,023 at Shady Grove Cemetery in Jersey, Arkansas with Bro. Wayman Mann officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jim Kitchens, Chad Kitchens, Tyler Kitchens, Cody Kitchens, Chase Yates, and Keith Fagg.
