MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Lady Jacks traveled to Monticello Tuesday, March 5 to take on the perennial softball powerhouse, the Lady Billies, marking the conference opener for both teams.

In the top of the 1st inning, the Lady Jacks went down in order. In the bottom of the inning, Monticello’s lead batter had an infield single, followed by back-to-back home runs. After one inning, Monticello led 3-0.
In the top of the 2nd, Paige Byrd reached base on an error; however, Warren left her stranded. The Lady Billies came out swinging in the bottom of the inning, using four hits to score four runs, including Lyle’s second home run of the game. Monticello now led 7-0.
The Lady Jacks’ Breize Fellows reached on a base on balls in the top of the 3rd inning. Unfortunately, the Lady Jacks left her stranded. The Lady Jacks held Monticello scoreless in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
In the top of the 4th, Ember Johnson broke up Monticello’s no-hitter with an infield single. However, once again, Warren was unable to score. Monticello struck again with a leadoff home run. The Warren defense stiffened, but Monticello led 8-0 after four innings.
Warren’s bats remained silent in the top of the 5th inning, while the Lady Billies picked up two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Although the Lady Billies won 10-0, this young, scrappy Lady Jack team never gave up and did not make it easy for Monticello.
The Warren Lady Jacks will play host to the McGehee Lady Owls on Thursday and Stuttgart on Friday.
