HERMITAGE, Ark. – The annual Bradley County Fair Queen and Junior Fair Queen Pageant will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Hermitage Community Center, located at 416 S. Hickory St., Hermitage, AR 71647. The event, open to contestants aged 14-23, promises to be a showcase of beauty, grace, and community spirit.
Entry and Fees: The mandatory entry fee for the pageant is $50.00. Contestants also have the option to enter the Photogenic category for an additional fee of $10.00. Photogenic entries must be submitted at 4:15 PM on the day of the pageant. Additionally, the Crowd Favorite award, which requires no entry fee, will be determined by the contestant who raises the most money through votes. Voting will be held before and during the pageant, closing when the last contestant leaves the stage. Contestants can also sell sponsor votes prior to the pageant.
Entry forms and fees are due by August 20, 2024, and are nonrefundable. Payments should be made payable to the Bradley County Fair and mailed along with the entry forms to Hermitage City Hall, PO Box 120, Hermitage, AR 71647. Eligibility: To compete, contestants must reside in Bradley County and be between the ages of 14 and 23 years as of October 1, 2024. The Fair Queen contestants must be between 18 and 23 years old, and Junior Fair Queen contestants must be between 14 and 18 years old. Contestants must meet specific qualifications, including residency and personal conduct requirements.
Pageant Format and Judging: The pageant will feature four categories: Private Interview, Active Wear, Evening Gown, and Onstage Question. Each category will account for 25% of the contestant’s total score. Judges, who will be well-qualified to evaluate this type of contest, will consider factors such as confidence, stage presence, physical fitness, and overall impression.
The Private Interview will last eight minutes and will evaluate the contestant’s poise, confidence, and ability to converse. The Active Wear category will judge physical fitness and energy level, while the Evening Gown competition will assess stage presence and appropriateness of the gown. Finally, the Onstage Question will be judged on the contestant’s ability to speak confidently and answer questions thoroughly.
Spectator Information: Each contestant will receive one complimentary chaperone entry. The spectator entry fee is $5.00 per person, with children under five admitted free of charge. The event promises to be a memorable evening, celebrating the talents and grace of Bradley County’s young women.
Crowning and Duties: The crowned Fair Queen and Junior Fair Queen will be expected to make appearances at the Bradley County Fair and assist during fair week. They are also required to return for the following year’s pageant to crown their successors.
