Kisver Ties for 11th Overall; Weevils Finish Fifth in Montevallo Invitational

CALERA, Ala. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Men’s Golf team finished fifth on Tuesday at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational at the Timberline Golf Club in Calera, Alabama, hosted by the University of Montevallo. The Weevils combined for a two-round team score of 25-over par (593).

Montevallo (Group A) took home the title with a final team score of 9-under par 559. The Weevils moved from sixth to fifth during round two of the tournament, scoring a +13 (297).

Sophomore Chase Kisver led the Weevils with a final round score of 2-over par (73), ending the tournament tied for 11th with a score of 146 (+4)

Senior Owen Page dropped three in the final round scoring 4-over par (75), he finished tied in 13th with a final total of 147 (+5).

Incoming Freshman Connor Whitworth, who competed individually, finished the tournament tied for 17th. Whitworth fired a final round of 74 to close the tournament 6-over par (148).

Sophomore Sawyor Hamilton finished tied for 25th at 8-over par after firing a second-round total of 76 (+5).

Senior Aidan Rooke shot a second-round 73 to end the tournament with a final score of 9-over par (151) for 27th place.

Junior Daniel Taylor rounded out the tournament for the Weevils with a second-round score of 5-over par (76) and a final-round score of 11-over par (153) to tie for 30th overall. 

UAM came out of the tournament with 36 birdies, shooting 12 in the opening round and 14 in Tuesday’s closing round. Rooke and Page led with birdies throughout the competition, seeing 4 and 3 a piece, respectively.

Coming up next, the Weevils head to Muskogee, Oklahoma for the Men’s Golf Classic at Muskogee Country Club, hosted by Northeastern State University. The opening round of the tournament tees off on Monday, Sept. 16.
