Warren, Arkansas – Interim Administrator Leslie Huitt told the Bradley County Medical Center Board during their monthly board meeting held December 21, 2021 that the Hospital’s finances were trending positive.
Huitt, who also serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the hospital, went into detail as to the status of the Hospital financially. She reported that volumes, or use of the Hospital, remain strong, and accounts receivable have decreased. Administrator Huitt reported that hospital sales tax revenues received in November 2021 amounted to $108,545.86.
Director of Nursing Jamie Wolfe reported on efforts to hire and retain staff.
Marilyn Johnson went over the development of a grievance procedure and it was adopted by the board, after asking several questions.
The board then took annual action on the renewal of hospital insurance. After reviewing all liability policies and the 2021 premiums and proposed rates for 2022, the board approved the following:
- Managment Liability, cost $$26,161.00
- Hospital Medical Professional, cost $27,092.00
- General Liability, cost $12,471.00
- Employee Benefits, cost $234.00
- Excess Liability, cost $12,848.00
- Physician Liability-$3 million/$5 million, cost $23,934.00
Total cost of insurance approved = $102,740.00
Next, the board took up proposals to purchase new equipment for the hospital. After being briefed on the need by the administrator, the board voted to purchase the following equipment utilizing sales tax revenues:
- CT scan with 5 year service agreement, cost $521,657.00
- Bone density add on for the CT, cost of $27,504.00
- Cost of loaner CT while new one is installed, cost of $21,000.00
- Ultrasound machine with 5 year service agreement, cost of 120,466.00
Total cost for equipment=$690,627.00
All figures are estimates and all equipment will be bidded out. Currently on hand the hospital has a balance of $3,745,353.31 in sales tax funds. After going into executive session to discuss personnel, the board went back into regular open session. No action was taken and the board adjourned.
