PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 63 in Jefferson County tragically claimed the life of a Pine Bluff resident late Friday morning.
The Arkansas State Police identified the victim as Nathaniel Scott Jr., 59, of Pine Bluff. Scott was driving a 2014 Hyundai Sonata southbound on U.S. Highway 63, just north of Pleasant Drive, when the crash occurred.
According to the accident report, Scott’s vehicle began to veer right toward a guardrail at approximately 11:30 a.m. Upon striking the guardrail with the passenger side of the car, he over-corrected his steering, causing the vehicle to veer left toward a concrete bridge barrier. The vehicle collided head-on with the barrier, resulting in fatal injuries.
Scott was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash, and there were no additional reports of injuries.
The weather conditions at the time of the accident were cloudy, and the road conditions were reported as dry.
