WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lumberjacks and Monticello Billies are set to clash once again in the Union Bank and Trust Saline River Shootout this Friday, October 4, 2024, at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The Union Bank and Trust Saline River Shootout has been one of the most anticipated rivalry games in Arkansas since the trophy-based rivalry was established in 2011 and sponsored annually by Union Bank and Trust of both Monticello and Warren. It boasts the largest high school rivalry trophy in the state, underscoring the importance of this annual matchup between the two teams. Although the trophy battle officially began in 2011, the Warren-Monticello rivalry dates back decades.
The inaugural 2011 game ended in a rare 6-6 tie, with the trophy being shared for the year. The following year the game became a conference matchup. Since 2012, Warren has largely dominated the series, holding an impressive 11-1-1 record since the trophy’s inception. Monticello’s sole victory came in 2020 when they edged out Warren 18-12.
Last season, the Lumberjacks defeated the Billies 42-21, continuing their recent string of successes. The Billies, however, will be looking to turn the tide and claim the coveted trophy in this year’s showdown.
