Weevils Leave ECU with 42-17 Loss

ADA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team traveled to East Central University on Saturday afternoon. The Boll Weevils came out of their week five match-up of the 2024 season with a 42-17 loss to the Tigers.

Senior quarterback Demilon Brown gave UAM a 23-41 performance with 244 passing yards. Royal Williams was the leading receiver in the game, grabbing seven receptions for 129 total yards and a touchdown, with the longest being a 37-yard reception. On the ground, Tyler Reed led the Boll Weevils with 15 carries for 55 net yards.

Defensively, Ervin Jones stood above the rest, grabbing eight total tackles, with four solo stops on the night.

Dylan Duhon led the day on special teams, with four punts for 147 yards and going 2-2 on PATs.

Post Game
Boll Weevil Head Coach Hud Jackson had this to say after the game: “It’s all about opportunities. We have not taken advantage of those opportunities at all. ECU played better. We were playing catch up the entire game. Total of six plays cost us. Have to make those. Football is about catching, throwing, blocking, and tackling. Making Plays. Winning those big play moments. We did not do that tonight. I have to be better as a head coach. My team has to be prepared to win those moments. So I will work harder to make our team understand that. Our backs are against the wall and the only way to fix that is to fight harder. Period.”
