WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lumberjacks opened their 4A State Playoff campaign with a dominant 35-13 victory over the Central Arkansas Christian Mustangs on Friday night at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium. A rapid start, featuring multiple turnovers forced by the defense, propelled Warren to an early lead they never relinquished.

The Lumberjacks intercepted CAC on the opening drive, with Louis Woods setting up the offense at midfield. Quarterback Cam Burks connected with Antonio Jordan on a fourth-down pass before finding Tramond Miller for a 27-yard touchdown to open the scoring. Jacarlos Marquez’s extra point made it 7-0 just over two minutes into the game.
The defense struck again moments later, as Josiah Steen returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown for the Jacks. Aaron Davis added a 40-yard scoring run, and Burks hit Miller again for a 47-yard touchdown, pushing Warren’s lead to 28-0 in the first quarter.
Burks added his third touchdown pass early in the second quarter, a 13-yard strike to Jordan, capping a first-half explosion. The Lumberjacks led 35-0 at halftime.
With the sportsmanship rule in effect during the second half, backups saw significant playing time. CAC added two late scores, but the result was never in doubt as Warren improved to 9-2 on the season.
Next Opponent
The Lumberjacks will host Pocahontas next Friday in the second round of the playoffs. Pocahontas advanced with a 28-13 win over Nashville.
