Cathey, Reep Power Warren to Victory Over DeWitt in Home Opener

WARREN, Ark. (3/6/25) – Hayden Cathey drove in five runs, including a grand slam, and recorded the final out of the ballgame on the mound while Ren Reep drove in three and threw the first three innings to lead Warren to an 8-2 victory over DeWitt Thursday evening at the Warren Sports Complex.

The Lumberjacks (2-0) outhit the Dragons (0-1) by a count of 9-2 with Reep, Hayden Cathey, and Antonio Jordan each picking up two apiece. Reep allowed no runs on one hit with three strikeouts and one walk on the mound. Parker O’Neal and Ryan Spears recorded the next 11 outs before Hayden Cathey struck out the only batter he faced to end the ballgame.

The Orange and Black jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first frame when Hayden Cathey drove in Reep, who had doubled with one out. Hayden Cathey came back to the plate in the bottom of the second with the bases loaded and two outs. He worked a 2-0 count before launching the next pitch over the right-field wall for a grand slam.

The Jacks maintained a 5-0 advantage until the fifth inning when the home team mounted a two-out rally started by a double from Jude Cathey. Two walks loaded the bases to set up Reep, who pulled a 1-1 pitch into the left-field corner for a bases-clearing two-bagger to set the score at 8-0. DeWitt would go on to score two runs in the top of the seventh to set the final at 8-2.

Warren has a quick turnaround with three games upcoming in the Southwest Sporting Goods Classic at Majestic Park in Hot Springs on Friday and Saturday. The Lumberjacks are set to play Horatio tomorrow with first pitch set for 5:45 p.m.
