HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (3/7/25) – Ryan Spears tossed six innings of one-run ball as the Warren High School baseball team earned an 8-1 victory versus Horatio Friday night in the Southwest Sporting Goods Classic being played at Majestic Park in Hot Springs.

Ryan Spears allowed just one run on five hits with eight strikeouts against one walk. The freshman hurler didn’t allow a run until the sixth inning. The Lumberjacks (3-0) outhit the Lions (0-3) by a count of 8-6 and didn’t commit an error, while Horatio made four errors.
The Jacks scored one in the top of the first on a RBI single by Nathan Spears and added three runs in the top of the third, highlighted by an inside-the-park home run by Antonio Jordan that plated two of the runs. Warren extended the advantage to 5-0 on a misplay by the Lions. Horatio scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to get within 5-1.
The Orange and Black took advantage of more misplays by the Lions in the top of the seventh to score three more runs and Hayden Cathey recorded the final three outs of the game to seal the 8-1 win.
Nathan Spears and Bryson Harris registered two hits apiece, while Jordan’s inside-the-park four bagger plated two runs to lead the team offensively.
The Jacks are scheduled to continue competition in the Southwest Sporting Goods Classic Saturday with two games. Warren is slated to take on Murfreesboro at 4:45 p.m. before playing defending 2A state champion Ouachita at 7:00 p.m.
