MONTICELLO, Ark. – Commercial Bank and Trust Co. proudly commemorates and recognizes Executive Vice President Hugh Allen Quimby for 55 years of service.
In the heart of Bradley County, where the rolling hills of Arkansas cradle small towns, a Commercial Bank legacy began in 1970. Hugh Allen Quimby stepped through the doors of First National Bank of Warren, not knowing at the time that he was embarking on a remarkable journey through the world of banking that would last over five decades.

With a firm handshake and an infectious smile, Hugh quickly became known as a steadfast pillar of the community.
His career was set in motion as he navigated various roles, starting as a bookkeeper and progressing through the ranks to teller, note teller, and branch manager. Each position was a chapter filled with lessons and relationships, laying the foundation for Hugh’s deep understanding of both banking and the needs of the community he served.
By 1974, Hugh’s talents had caught the attention of Citizens National Bank in Jacksonville, where he assumed the role of Vice President, managing operations and loans. Here, he set in motion significant changes, advocating for the bank’s transition to automated systems—a bold step for the time. His innovative spirit modernized the institution and showcased his unwavering commitment to excellence.
1976, the pull of home brought him back to First National Bank of Warren. With his extensive experience, Hugh quickly took charge of marketing, advertising, and personnel, influencing the bank’s image and connection to the community. His tireless dedication led to a promotion to Senior Vice President in 1978. A year later, the bank rebranded as First State Bank of Warren and Hermitage, marking a new era of growth and service. Hugh’s leadership didn’t stop there. In 1981, he became the Executive Vice President, overseeing operations and the Loan department, a title that reflected his profound impact on our organization.

The following year, he was elected to First State Bank’s Board of Directors but also took the role of Secretary (a position he maintained until June 2024), witnessing the bank’s transformation over nearly five decades. Currently, Hugh holds the position as the Executive Vice President of Commercial Bank and Trust — a testament to his enduring legacy.
Throughout his career, Hugh prioritized his education, graduating from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and further honing his skills at esteemed institutions like the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking.
Hugh recently shared that “A Community Bank serves as the lifeblood of small towns in rural America,” reflecting his deep understanding of the role community banking plays in home-town development.”
Today, Hugh’s impact stretches across every corner of Warren. As an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, he takes pride in serving as a Deacon and participating Men’s Breakfast with his fellow brothers in Christ.
Hugh is the Treasurer for both his church and the Bartholomew Baptist Association, demonstrating the intertwining of his faith and civic duty, proudly representing Southern Baptist Churches in Bradley and Drew counties.
Hugh’s leadership in the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation exhibited his commitment to fostering growth in his hometown. From 1991-2014, he held the title of Justice of the Peace, playing a vital role in local governance and community affairs. His work with the Warren Housing Authority and other organizations reflects his deep sense of responsibility toward improving the lives of those around him.
Those who cross paths with Hugh often walk away inspired. He encourages others to become the best versions of themselves in every meeting and interaction. Whether in the boardroom or the church kitchen, his warmth and kindness has a way of transforming mundane moments into cherished memories.
Our hope is that when Hugh looks back on his extensive (ongoing) career, he recognizes the countless lives he has touched. His mentorship, generosity, knowledge, and unwavering spirit has made a difference in our Bank and our communities.
For all the hats he has worn and continues to wear, from banker to community leader, we recognize Hugh Allen Quimby as an extraordinary individual whose legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of Commercial Bank & Trust.
Today, as Hugh continues his professional journey within our walls of what was once First National Bank, then First State Bank, and now Commercial Bank, he stands as a beacon of inspiration.
