District 6170 Governor Visits Warren Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Warren met for its second meeting of July at noon on Tuesday, July 22 inside the Fellowship Hall at First Methodist Church. The program was a special one as the District Governor for Rotary District 6170 Jennifer Van Houtte made the trip down to Warren for the district governor’s annual visit. Van Houtte met with the board members of the Warren club before making a presentation to the entire crowd for the regular program. She is from Russellville and is the District Governor for the second time after being asked to step in after the original appointee had to step down.

Van Houtte spoke about several topics including the importance of Rotary to communities around the world and how close the organization is to eradicating polio. She then talked about the challenges that Rotary and other civic clubs are facing today with declining membership and engagement in the United States, but she pointed out that clubs in other countries are growing. Despite the challenges, she is hopeful for the future of Rotary in our district and around the globe. The Rotary Club of Warren is scheduled for its next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12 with Warren High School Head Football Coach Bo Hembree slated to speak.
