Janet M. Newton-Brown, 1958-2025

Janet M. Newton-Brown, 67, of Warren, passed away August 1, 2025. Born February 26, 1958, to the late George Sr. and Ossie Meeks Newton. 

Janet graduated from Hermitage High School in 1977 and went on to pursue her passion for beauty and self-care, attending Pine Bluff Cosmetology in Pine Bluff, AR. She became a licensed cosmetologist, sharing

her talents with others, and also embraced the retail world, working as a sales associate at Cato and West Brothers Company in Warren. She later finished her career at American Greetings in Osceola, AR. before 

taking early retirement to be closer to her loved ones in Warren, where she continued to touch lives with her kindness and generosity.

On December 31, 1983, Janet married the love of her life, Johnny Mack Brown, with whom she shared over four decades of love, laughter and devotion. Together, they raised a beautiful family, and Janet’s legacy

as a mother and grandmother will forever be cherished.

She was a faithful member of Palestine AME Church in Johnsville, AR until moving to Osceola, AR. Janet’s strong faith and love for God guided her through life. She found joy in helping others and was known for warm,

welcoming spirit, always making those around her feel seen and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ossie Newton; two brothers, Benjamin (Bang), George (Ed) Newton; three sisters, Rosie (Sista Gal) Crowell, Lottie (Lot) Boswell and Candice (Shug) Newton.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Brown; her children, Nakia Newton (Stephanie), Duran Brown (Terri); stepsons, Johnny Brown Jr, Alvaney Crenshaw; grandchildren, Austin Newton, Kayla Newton, Gabrielle Brown, Adelynn Brown, Demi(Lady Bug) Brown, Jemesha Brown-Lawrence; two sisters, Laurell (Pop) Newton, Essie (Lou) Harris (Robert); brother, Ronnie (Beve) Newton; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held August 9 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Warren with Rev. Derek Perry pastor and Rev. Louis Newton Jr. eulogist. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery, Johnsville, AR. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
