WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lumberjacks will get their first live test of the 2025 football season on Friday, Aug. 22, when they host the McGehee Owls in a preseason scrimmage at 6 p.m. at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium.
The matchup gives both programs an opportunity to evaluate talent and build depth before opening their regular seasons next week. Warren begins Aug. 29 at home against Greenbrier, while McGehee opens the same night at Hamburg.
According to Hooten’s Arkansas Football, Warren returns several key pieces from last year’s quarterfinal playoff run, including senior running back Aaron Davis, who rushed for more than 1,200 yards as a junior. Linebacker Luis Woods, one of the state’s top defensive prospects, also returns to anchor the Lumberjacks’ defense.

McGehee will look to its senior-heavy roster for leadership, including quarterback Ashton Humphries and running back Rashawn Brown, both of whom are expected to carry a large share of the offense this fall. The Owls’ offensive line features experienced returners, highlighted by left tackle Jaxon Williams.
Friday’s scrimmage will allow coaches to sort rotations and give underclassmen valuable reps before the season officially kicks off.
