Kathleen Turner, age 96, of Miramar Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 after a brief but brave battle with complications from pneumonia.
Born on September 16, 1929, in Little Rock, AR, Kathleen was the daughter of Ralph and Birdie Greenwood. A devout Christian, she was a loyal servant of the Lord, who blessed her greatly throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church in Warren, AR.
Kathleen spent most of her life in Warren, where she was married to Robert Stewart for 28 years and together they raised three children. After Robert’s passing, she later married Herschel Turner, with whom she shared 15 years of marriage.
Kathleen loved people and made friends everywhere she went. Whether working with the public at Kroger or at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, she was known for her quick wit, dry sense of humor, and friendly banter with customers and coworkers alike. She built lifelong friendships and created countless cherished memories.
As the matriarch of her family, Kathleen brought everyone together—organizing fun games and events, and showing her love through her exceptional country cooking. She was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing, decorating cakes, making ceramics, and competing in weekly Canasta games and Friday Night Dinners with the “girls”. Despite being legally blind for 30 years, she remained remarkably strong, resilient, and independent, inspiring all who knew her.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter Vanessa (Don) Pruitt of Miramar Beach, FL; grandchildren Jason Harvey of Fort Smith, AR; Stewart (Madeline) Harvey of Hampton, AR; and Stephanie Stewart of Houston, TX; six great-grandchildren; stepdaughters Dixie (Jackie, deceased) Curry and family, Linda (Jimmy) Reep and family, and Becky (Buddy) Rauls and family; and brothers Ralph (Janine) Greenwood of Reston, VA, Dehlin (Kathy) Greenwood of Brea, CA, and Max Greenwood of Fayetteville, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Joyce Harvey of Warren, AR; son Steve (Marsha) Stewart of Somerset, OH; stepsons Rex Stewart and Dennis “Pete” Stewart; and brother Stoy Greenwood of Sonoma, CA.
Kathleen will be remembered for her humor, strength, creativity, and boundless love for family and friends. Her faith and determination were a source of light and inspiration to everyone who knew her.
