Faye Burks Goins Guess, age 84, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2025. She was born in Warren, AR, on January 31, 1941, to the late Wilmot and Clara Bell Moseley Burks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Bobby Guess, a stepson Lance Guess, and her brother Ray Burks.
Survivors include her daughter Debbie Gasaway (Byron), stepson Carl Guess (Becky), grandson David Gasaway (Candice), granddaughter Brittany Gasaway (Jared Williams), great-granddaughter Rece Maloch (John Henry Maloch), and great-grandson Brennan Gasaway.
During her lifetime, Faye Guess was an active member of Baptist churches in Warren, AR and Houston, TX, and in recent years was a member of Pauline Baptist Church, in Monticello, AR. Her health prevented her from attending church in several years, but she was a woman of great faith and a powerful prayer warrior, often praying for family, friends, and others.
She was a retired schoolteacher having taught at Warren Junior High School for many years and was known to her students as “Ms. Goins”. She knew when she was a small child that she wanted to be a teacher. She fulfilled her life-long dream when she graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a bachelor’s degree in education and later began teaching math to junior high students. She not only educated her students, but she had a strong influence on many, and even inspired some to become future teachers.
In her younger years, she was very creative and enjoyed many hobbies. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, crocheting, cooking, canning foods from her garden, and making beautiful ceramic items, which are cherished family keepsakes. But most important to her always was her faith and spending time with her family, who will miss her greatly.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 12:00PM at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Warren, AR, with Bro. Marty Reep officiating. Arrangements by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
